Heal cancer like a pimple: The black ointment should make this possible. But does the supposed panacea really work against breast and skin cancer? wellnessspecialty asked Professor Utikal of the German Cancer Research Center.
In the alternative-esoteric scene, black ointment is an insider tip for people who fear they have cancer or who have already been diagnosed with a tumor. Because the black ointment or pasta negra is supposed to unmask cancer as well as properly pull out the tumor and heal it in this way. How this is supposed to work: Simply apply the ointment regularly to the skin and wait for the healing process.
Black ointment can make cancer worse
In fact, the black ointment harbors a number of health risks that have become known to the general public through various media reports, such as an episode of the TV series “Contrasts”. Here the reporters pointed out that patients had died after using the black ointment.
In other cases, the cancer progressed and metastasized . Other users reported to television journalists that the black ointment destroyed an unnecessary amount of tissue or caused ulcers to form on initially healthy skin.
Positive effect of the ointment more than questionable
So there is no trace of the positive effect of the black ointment, quite the opposite. Fatal too: Because some patients rely on the simple healing with the ointment, they delay the urgently needed visit to the doctor and targeted cancer therapy – until this help comes too late.
Despite this, patient reports on the Internet are full of praise for the black ointment . However, it is difficult to determine whether these are PR statements by the manufacturer or genuine comments. The ointment is easy to order online. It is advertised and sold, among others, by Jim Humble, about whose MMS drops various authorities have already warned.
Skin cancer expert considers black ointment to be suspect
Many Internet users ask themselves after reading such sites: Is the black ointment really used for the diagnosis and therapy of cancer ? Or is it just dangerous humbug intended to pull the money out of the pockets of the desperately ill?
wellnessspecialty wanted to be certain and asked Professor Jochen Utikal , the head of the clinical cooperation unit for dermato-oncology at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) with the University Hospital in Mannheim. “The whole thing seems suspect . It’s also not clear to me which active ingredients are involved,” says the expert with regard to the black paste.
Side effect of the black ointment: ulcer eats away nose
The list of ingredients also says little about the black ointment: medicinal substances are not listed, but lots of exotic medicinal plants and minerals. Probably not all components are specified. Because the aggressive effect that is reported in the specialist press cannot be explained with the medicinal plant mix. For example, the ointment caused a large ulcer on the nose of one patient, resulting in massive tissue damage . Researchers report this in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Medical ointments in cancer diagnostics
Utikal finds statements that the ointment diagnoses, pulls out and heals the tumor “negligent” to put it mildly. In the diagnosis of skin cancer , there is actually the possibility of making a tumor visible, so to speak, with the help of fluorescence diagnostics using aminolevulinic acid.
And also “creams against certain types of skin cancer or their precursors actually exist,” says the expert and lists some examples of prescription ointments for cancer therapy :
- Aldara Cream (imiquimod)
- Solaraze ( Diclofenac )
- Picato (ingenol mebutate)
Cytostatics could also be administered in creams against skin cancer, such as those contained in Efudix cream. But none of this has anything to do with the black ointment . According to expert opinion, it is neither suitable for diagnosing nor treating cancer .
Why the black ointment cannot be a panacea
Because there is no sole remedy for breast or skin cancer – which the inventors of the black ointment claim for themselves: The clinical picture of skin cancer is not uniform: “There is no tumor entity”, as the skin cancer expert puts it. Therefore, each cancer requires an individual therapy – depending on the type and severity of the tumor.
On the contrary, the black ointment delays or rejects urgently needed, scientifically based cancer therapies – quite apart from the direct negative consequences of the paste.
